Release notes

PocketShell is now Thumbdesk. Meet 2.0.

New name, same app, and the biggest update since launch: your phone can now see and control your screens, reach servers without installing anything, and keep an eye on every machine you own.

Screen sharing

Try it →
  • See and control the desktop of a Mac, a Windows PC or a Linux machine (X11, GNOME, KDE and wlroots on Wayland).
  • Trackpad or direct-touch pointer, pinch to zoom, two-finger scroll, right and middle click.
  • Switch displays and picture quality during a share; quality adapts to your connection automatically.
  • Clipboard both ways, per-OS shortcuts and a key bar with ⌘, Ctrl, Alt, the Windows key and F-keys.
  • The machine's sound, when you turn it on.

SSH hosts

Try it →
  • Add any server you can SSH into, with no agent: terminal, files, stats and projects.
  • Passwords or keys, including keys generated on the phone. Host keys are pinned on first connect.
  • Each SSH terminal runs in its own tmux session, so it survives a dropped connection.

A redesigned app

Try it →
  • Hosts home with Terminal, Screen, Files and Projects one tap from every machine.
  • A new Sessions tab: recent projects, workspaces and agent chats in one place.
  • Workspaces that mix terminals, files and web previews from several machines.
  • A new Monitor: fleet overview, live tiles, history charts, data used, storage and processes.
  • A four-card tour and a getting-started checklist for new accounts, plus a demo host.
  • Side-by-side panes on iPad and wide screens, and 12 languages.
  • Streamed, resumable transfers on their own channel.
  • A rewritten browser and editor with path suggestions, starred and recent folders.
  • Send files into any folder on any machine from the iOS and Android share sheet.

Alerts and agents

Try it →
  • Alerts on a specific disk, plus ending a runaway process from its detail page.
  • Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island for Claude Code, Codex and Grok.
  • Grok joins Claude Code and Codex. Chat with agents in the app, or resume any session in a terminal.

The agent on your computer

Try it →
  • The command is now `thumbdesk` (the old `pocketshell` keeps working).
  • On a Mac it is an app with a menu-bar item: paired devices, terminal sessions, exposed ports, who is viewing the screen, and a switch to turn screen sharing off.
  • A tray item on Windows and Linux, including pairing a Windows PC from the tray.
  • Install with Homebrew on a Mac: brew install --cask yashagldit/thumbdesk/thumbdesk.
  • Updates are signed and verified before they install.

Security

Try it →
  • Pairing binds your phone's device key to the QR you scanned, with a pairing proof.
  • Hardened file paths and agent checks, and a searchable audit log per machine.
